Barbara Fancsik de Pérez
Barbara Fancsik de PérezFounder ~ Lead Wedding Planner
I moved to Vallarta from Toronto, Canada and my adventure began! I owned and operated two successful restaurants for my first 7 years here and then in 2005 I traded in the tapas and sangria for love and “I Do’s” and branched out into wedding planning. I’ve never looked back! I helped to grow one of Puerto Vallarta’s premier wedding and event planning companies, becoming it’s Managing Partner and an integral part of its success, then in 2011 I started my own company, Weddings Vallarta by Barbara. Over the past years I have had the great pleasure of working with many incredible couples while planning and designing their beautiful, romantic weddings, each as unique as the couples themselves. Being bilingual and in tune with the Mexican culture, I understand the nuances, and at times challenges, of creating and executing successful weddings and events in Mexico. I truly enjoy guiding each client step by step through the process of planning a destination wedding and I’m so very fortunate to be able to do the work I love and am passionate about, time and time again!

Julieta JimenezWedding Planner
Julieta, originally from the beautiful city of Guadalajara, Mexico, moved to Puerto Vallarta 15 years ago. She started in the restaurant business working as a server, a bartender and doing whatever it took to learn the business inside out. Eventually this led her to Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport where she held the position of Restaurant Supervisor for 5 years. Well experienced in personnel management, working under pressure and everything to do with service and customer care, she decided to spread her wings and break into wedding and event planning. Fortunately for Weddings Vallarta we were looking for somebody to come in as a Jr. Wedding Planner and Julieta fit the bill perfectly! It now feels as if she was born to it. In her own words….”I’m so very happy! It’s amazing how each weddings is different and beautiful. Each couple has their own style, their colors, their details which make them all so unique. All the planning and logistics we do for months leading up to a wedding to help make their day simply perfect is amazing for me! It’s magic, I love this work! I am learning something new everyday, working with new couples every season and it’s very exciting!”

Getting Married in Puerto Vallarta

One of the first decisions you’ll have to make when planning your Puerto Vallarta wedding is whether you want to have a civil (legal) ceremony, a spiritual/symbolic wedding ceremony or a ceremony in the church.  Weddings Vallarta is here to help you with whichever you choose.

Civil Ceremony

Foreigners can legally be married in Mexico as long as they present all the necessary documents and comply with all the requirements. It does require quite a bit of legal paperwork and preparation and you will be required to be here for a few days before the wedding, so plan accordingly. The civil ceremony is the only ceremony legally recognized in Mexico. A justice of the peace performs this ceremony in Spanish.

Catholic Ceremony

If you are planning to have your ceremony in one of the lovely Catholic churches here in Vallarta, you’ll need to plan a few months ahead so you have time to gather all the required documentation and fulfill the church requirements. You are required to be legally married first. Catholic wedding ceremonies are performed only in the Church, priests do not go out to villas, venues or perform ceremonies on the beach.

Symbolic Ceremony

The symbolic/spiritual ceremony allows you the freedom to choose the type of marriage ceremony you’ll have, the vows you will be saying, who will be performing your ceremony and where your wedding will take place. The wording, the rituals, the elements are all completely up to you and it can be as long or brief as you chose.  You can get legally married at home at your leisure, before or after, or not at all. It’s all up to you.

Wedding Venues

Location, location, location….

Choosing and falling in love with a venue is the first big step!  Next come the logistics. Issues like vendor accessibility, space restrictions, venue rules, policies and pricing, distance and travel time from yours and your guests accommodations, all can have a dramatic effect on your plans and budget. Let us arrange and organize all that for you so you have nothing to worry about on your big day!

None of the stress, all of the fun!

Let us take care of every single detail and make your wedding day the best day of your life!

Fun FAQS

Here are a few questions and answers to help get you started with your wedding planning in Puerto Vallarta.

Wedding season in Puerto Vallarta is from October thru June and any of those months are lovely for a wedding, however the bests months, weather wise, are December, January, February, March and the first half of April.  The weather in those months is lovely and warm during the day and it cools off a bit in the evenings with warm tropical breezes blowing off the bay, perfect for dancing the night away at your reception!  The humidity is also a lot lower in those months, which is great for hair and makeup!  Another plus is that those months have generally little or next to no chance of rain.

Rainy season starts about mid June and lasts all the way through October. The rainiest  months however, tend to be July, August and September. If you choose to hold your wedding in any of those months you will need to factor in tenting into your budget.  Not that it rains everyday, or even for long periods of time (it rarely ever rains all day here), however you need to be prepared that it can rain at any given moment and when it does it's almost always tropical torrential. Even 5 minutes of torrential rainfall can ruin an outdoor wedding and since most of the villas and venues here don't have large indoor areas capable of accommodating a wedding, if it starts to pour, you and your guests and all the tables, chairs and decor will almost definitely get drenched and ruined.  June and October tend to be less rainy, so although it still could rain on your wedding day there is definitely a little less chance of it.

Yes, don't worry!  We have villas and venues that have gorgeous terraces that overlook the beach, or they are up in the mountain and have stunning views of Puerto Vallarta and the whole Bay of Banderas.  You won't have to step foot on the beach if you don't want to.  We can help find the right one for you!

Sure you can!  One thing to consider with a sunset wedding however, is the photography.  If you get married at sunset you need to be prepared that almost all of your wedding photos will be taken when it's dusky and then dark using unnatural lighting, especially if you, the bride and groom, are not going to see each other before the ceremony. I always recommend that you leave a good hour of time between the end of the ceremony and sunset so that you can get in some great photos of the ceremony and then have time to get photos of you with the wedding party, family and friends in good natural light.  Later at sunset you can always go back to the ceremony site and take your romantic sunset shots.

If you are serving a sit down dinner and have given your guests a choice of entrées and/or starters on their invitations, then yes, assigned seating with a seating list for the caterers indicating which guest is sitting where at each table along with their menu choices is required.  Overall, wedding guests in general prefer to have assigned seating.  It simplifies things for them and works much better than having your guests wander around from table to table trying to find places available to seat 2, 3 or more people in their group, saving seats with purses, jackets and such, or playing musical chairs with other guests in order to sit together. Plus it shows your guests that you have put time and thought into them and their comfort.
